CARDINHAM SCHOOL AND NURSERY

Where potential is nurtured and futures are inspired

Education that goes beyond the curriculum

Curriculum Overview

At Cardinham Primary School, we have carefully designed a rolling curriculum that ensures all children receive a broad, balanced and enriching education. Our foundation subjects are taught as discrete subjects and are fully aligned with the National Curriculum. An overview of our curriculum coverage can be found below.

At Cardinham Primary School, teachers create detailed Curriculum Planners each half term to ensure learning is purposeful, progressive and engaging. These plans demonstrate how carefully sequenced lessons build upon prior knowledge and experiences, enabling children to make meaningful connections in their learning and develop a deeper understanding over time.

Our Curriculum Planners clearly identify the key knowledge, skills and vocabulary that pupils will learn, while ensuring that learning is appropriately matched to the needs of each year group. Teachers carefully consider what pupils have already learned and how new learning will support them in working towards clearly defined outcomes and end points.

By planning in this way, we ensure that our curriculum is coherent, ambitious and designed to help every child succeed. It also enables us to provide rich opportunities for children to revisit and apply their learning, strengthening understanding and supporting long-term retention.
