Physical Education at Cardinham
At Cardinham Primary School, we place a high value on Physical Education and recognise the important role it plays in promoting children's physical health, emotional wellbeing and personal development. We believe that PE provides children with opportunities to challenge themselves, build confidence, develop resilience and experience success in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Intent
We aim to deliver a high-quality PE curriculum that inspires all pupils to develop a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and sport. Through a broad range of physical experiences, children develop fundamental movement skills, physical competence and confidence, enabling them to participate successfully in a variety of activities. We also strive to equip children with essential life skills, including teamwork, communication, leadership, perseverance and respect for others.
Our curriculum promotes the values of fairness, honesty and good sportsmanship, helping pupils understand how to cooperate and collaborate effectively as part of a team. We are committed to ensuring that all children develop the knowledge and skills needed to lead healthy, active lives and understand the importance of physical activity for both physical and mental wellbeing. We also recognise swimming and water safety as vital life skills and provide opportunities for pupils to develop confidence and competence in the water.
Ultimately, our PE curriculum aims to improve the wellbeing and fitness of all children while fostering positive attitudes towards physical activity that will remain with them throughout their lives.
